Netflix’s ‘Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell’ Promises Fresh Look at the Notorious B.I.G.’s Life

The upcoming documentary was created alongside the celebrated rapper’s estate.

Netflix is offering a fresh look at the life of the great Notorious B.I.G. with its upcoming documentary, Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell.

Releasing after the celebrated rapper’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and ahead of what would have been his 50th birthday this March, the documentary was created alongside Biggie’s estate and was executive produced by his mother Voletta Wallace, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Mark Pitts, Stanley Buchthal, Emmet Malloy and Brendan Malloy. Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell boasts of an “intimate rendering of a man whose rapid ascent and tragic end has been at the center of rap lore for more than twenty years,” and is set to feature rare footage filmed by the legend’s best friend Damion “D-Roc” Butler and interviews with his closest friends, family, industry figures and celebrities that came to know Christopher Wallace.

First announced in 2017 with the title One More Chance, director Emmet Malloy revealed that it was only completed recently. Biggie’s former manager and current estate manager Wayne Barrow said to Rolling Stone, “Mama Wallace and I had a conversation about creating the first Estate sanctioned documentary about BIG’s life and the initial thought was to have the story told from the perspective of his fans globally and how they were inspired by him and his music.”

D Roc added, “Big was always a visionary. There will never be such a crazy time in Brooklyn as the 80’s and 90’s, out of great struggle, comes great art and music. The Brooklyn kid rapping today won’t have the same stories we have to tell.”
