Coming soon to Nashville
Hayley Williams was doing bright orange and fiery red hair long before the shades became the hottest trends, so it was no surprise when the singer and her longtime hairstylist Brian O’Connor launched a range of hair dyes, Good Dye Young, back in 2016. Alongside pretty much every other colour in the rainbow, the brand bottled Williams’ signature fluorescent orange shade and named it Riot after Paramore’s 2007 album.
Now the pair have taken the next step and are opening a new hair salon in Nashville. Called Fruits Hair Lab, the name pays homage to Fruits magazine which inspired O’Connor to create the flaming orange hair colour Williams sports in the “Misery Business” music video. A green circle, carbon-neutral salon, Fruits Hair Lab is described as an “inclusive safe space to express yourself through hair” and has been two years in the making, according to Williams. “Cannot wait to welcome the curious and courageous into this space,” she wrote on Instagram.
No opening date has been confirmed as of yet, although Williams alluded to the time frame being weeks rather than months. Posting on his own Instagram, O’Connor, who has been doing Williams’ hair for 17 years, said he was so excited about the new venture. “This has been a dream of mine since I was 12 years old and I can’t believe I’m finally able to say this.”
The musician has been busy recently, with Paramore releasing their comeback single a few weeks ago and their sixth album set to come out in February. Speaking about the single, titled “This Is Why”, Williams said: “It summarises the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last three or four years. You’d think after a global pandemic of fucking biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something.”
