Damien Hirst Launches Major “Mental Escapology” Exhibition in Switzerland

Taking place across multiple venues in the Swiss city of St. Moritz.

World-renowned British artist Damien Hirst recently launched a massive multi-site exhibition featuring over 40 works in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Entitled “Mental Escapology,” the sprawling presentation encompasses four different locations in the Swiss city which is open to the public until February 28. The exhibition, which takes place both in indoor and outdoor locations, marks Hirst’s public showing of his works in the country.

Organized with the assistance of the city of St. Moritz, the exhibition is currently taking place across several venues and two historical buildings: the neo-classical Forum Paracelsus in St. Moritz Bad and the Protestant Church in the centre of St. Moritz. One of the highlights of the exhibition is a series of two large-scale outdoor sculptures. One of the sculptures is a 12-foot-tall work entitled The Monk which is currently being exhibited in the center of the frozen Lake St. Moritz. The other piece entitled Two Figures with a Drum is installed on the north-eastern edge of the lake. The works were part of Hirst’s major 2017 exhibition ”Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable“ in Venice.

Moreover, Hirst is displaying works from his iconic series such as Natural HistorySpot PaintingsButterfuly Colour Paintings, and Mental Escapology — which inspired the name of the exhibition.
