Featuring 12 acclaimed animated film shorts from around the world.
Fortnite’s virtual film festival, Short Nite is debuting this month on the Big Screen in Party Royale. The virtual festival will feature 12 acclaimed animated short films for players and their friends to enjoy.
Fans can expect films from a selection of creators and directors from around the world. Several of the short films have been nominated for awards including Academy Award for Best Short Animation Film, the EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) and the Emmys.
One of the films fans will see featured at Short Nite is award-winning director Rich Webber’s Bench. Webber shared, “Seeing Bench’s warm global reception since its debut has been a standout achievement this past year. We’re very excited to share the film inside Fortnite and contribute to the magic of a short film festival in Party Royale.”
The virtual film festival is not the first time Fortnite has expanded beyond gaming to become a social space for players to view one-of-a-kind concerts, music video premieres, and now films. In June 2020, Fornite launched its first-ever Movie Nite at Party Royale’s Big Screen, which featured three Christopher Nolan titles – Inception, Batman Begins and The Prestige. The festival represents a new era of entertainment and digital co-viewing, especially relevant during the pandemic.
The Short Nite Virtual Film Festival begins February 20, 2021 at 2 p.m. EST and will run until February 21, 2021 at 2 p.m. EST. The event does not require tickets and is open to anyone. Fornite encourages players to meet with other Fornite players at the Big Screen in Party Royale or watch the shorts via Picture-in-Picture.
